Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy," so Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind and spirit creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. Many have reported miraculous results.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.

What is Holy Fire® Reiki?

Holy Fire® Reiki is a newer form of Reiki that was introduced in 2014 by the International Center for Reiki Training (ICRT). It is both powerful and gentle and provides purification, healing, empowerment and guidance. Holy Fire® energy is noticeably more refined and comes from a higher level of consciousness.

What is Gestalt therapy?

Gestalt therapy is a humanistic, person-centered form of psychotherapy. Gestalt is a German word for "whole." The goal is to understand the "gestalt" or wholeness of the feelings and thoughts at hand. It is also "a lively and holistic experiential approach to healing and personal growth that emphasizes the development of awareness — emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual, and the capacity to make healthy contact with one’s self, others, and the environment."

Gestalt therapy "is used by trained therapists to help, support, coach and maybe even cajole the client to become aware of themselves and make good, healthy contact in the world with their environment and most importantly, themselves. By working with clients in this way, Gestalt therapists can get to the heart of the matter very quickly, helping us create solutions and new ways of thinking thereby freeing us of some of the excess baggage that we carry through life, and allowing us to be open to new experiences."

How does experiential therapy work and when is it used with clients?

Experiential therapy works by helping you safely "re-experience and release repressed negative emotions from the past, so they are better able to experience positive feelings such as love, forgiveness, and calm in the present, changing their perception of reality. In practice, experiential therapy can take a variety of forms, and is client-centered."

“Experiential therapy is often used in the treatment of trauma, eating disorders, behavior disorders, anger management, grief/loss recovery, substance abuse, and various types of physical and behavioral addictions and compulsive behavior. It is also recommended for those who wish to be free of painful, unhappy, or heavy emotions from past experiences, to change the nature of their current and future relationships, and to live up to their full potential”

What are Distant Reiki sessions?

Distant Reiki sessions are just as effective as in-person sessions, allowing clients to receive healing anywhere in the world. Reiki life force energy is not constricted by space and time and always respects free will choice. No matter the distance, it is very effective.

A distant Reiki session feels like a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around you. Reiki treats the whole person including body, emotions, mind, and spirit, creating many beneficial effects that include relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing.

Reiki is not a cure for a disease or illness, but it may assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing. Reiki is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings.

More information about Reiki can be found on the International Center for Reiki Training Website: https://www.reiki.org/faqs/what-reiki

When is a Distant Reiki session most helpful?

Distant Reiki is most helpful for the following reasons:

  • General Healing: Restoring your body, emotions, and mind to your natural state of well-being (homeostasis).

  • Specific Events: Surgery, auditions, interviews, public speaking, travel, and exams.

  • Life Transitions: Marriage, divorce, death, pregnancy & birth, new home, and new job.

  • Goals: Weight management, improved relationships, actualized potential, more creative inspiration, increased financial flow, etc.

  • You Want to Stay Home: Tight schedule, illness/pandemic, too far to travel, and young children at home.

The person I want to speak to has already died. Will Karma Clearing Experiential Therapy sessions still be helpful for me?

Yes, the Karma Clearing Experiential Therapy sessions are especially helpful for people who wish to communicate with someone who has already died or transitioned out of the physical body. These sessions facilitate your healing from grief/loss because they provide a healing sanctuary for you to receive the closure that you need from that relationship.

Do you take insurance?

Insurance does not typically cover distant Reiki healing sessions. However, if you have a flexible spending healthcare account, you may want to check to see if Reiki healing is included.

For Karma Clearing Experiential Therapy sessions, I am considered an out-of-network provider and will provide monthly statements for you at your request. This will allow you to receive partial reimbursement from your insurance company.

If you choose to use your insurance in this way, please contact your insurance company prior to our first session to verify your out of network benefits and clarify the limits of your coverage, authorizations, and deductibles.

What is experiential therapy?

Experiential therapy is a therapeutic technique that invites you to participate in experiences and activities, other than traditional talk therapy. This can include the use of "expressive tools and activities, such as role-playing or acting, props, arts and crafts, music, animal care, guided imagery, or various forms of recreation to re-enact and re-experience emotional situations from past and recent relationships.

Through these activities, you can "begin to identify emotions associated with success, disappointment, responsibility, and self-esteem. Under the guidance of a trained experiential therapist, you can begin to release and explore negative feelings of anger, hurt, or shame as they relate to past experiences that may have been blocked or still linger" (www.psychologytoday.com).

Experiential therapy includes, but is not limited to, psychodrama, sociometry, Gestalt therapy, yoga therapy, animal-assisted therapy, art therapy, adventure therapy, poetry therapy, and music therapy.

I'm interested in Karma Clearing Experiential Therapy, but I'm uncomfortable with writing a letter. Is there an alternative?

Yes! If you do not prefer to write a letter because it causes you to feel overwhelmed/anxious, you will be guided in an experiential therapy role-play technique during Part 1 (the first hour of your session). Part 2 with Holy Fire® Reiki (the last 30 minutes of your session) will remain the same.

And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

What my clients are saying...

Debra

Usui Reiki Image 1.png

I called Katie Lacenere at Divine Light Sanctuary 4 months ago. I was desperately trying to find a professional to help me with my overwhelming anguish and grief over the ambiguous loss of 5 family members. Katie Lacenere is profound at guiding me through my grieving process. Katie has given me a variety of techniques to aid me through this journey. I work with my higher self to feel and deal with my emotions immediately before they consume my heart. Grief is very complex, but I can finally see a light on the horizon. I now have hope for my future, regardless of the family outcome. I am so grateful to Katie for having

the passion and insight to help me with all forms of grief.
